Alongside the autonomous (own certified) leadership programs of SCMLD, its students can simultaneously pursue MBA degree / Diploma programmes from Indira Gandhi National Open University. SCMLD is a partner institute of IGNOU for class room coaching only of its educational programs. SCMLD Leadership programmes are not affiliated to or recognised / approved by any university, government or statutory bodies like AICTE, UGC etc.
Student friendly selection process:
The selection process begins with GD first. GD topics are already here (Click here). The shortlisted candidates after GD will have a clarification & counseling session, at the respective GD centres. Rs. 300/- need to be paid for the administrative fee for GD participation. Such shortlisted applicants who are keen to be in SCMLD need only to buy the detailed prospectus and formal application form for admission by paying Rs. 900/- as the cost of prospectus & administrative fee. Both the above fees are non-refundable. The written test will be at SCMLD campus Pune. (GD and shortlisting for the written test are at different centers). Prospectus, the application form and a book will be given to each student for the above Rs. 900/-. Written test will consist of questions from the book provided, questions from the prospectus to check whether or not the applicant has understood the institute & its processes, basic mathematics & data analysis, current affairs and few psychometric tests. The source from where current affairs questions will be set and the syllabi for basic maths & data analysis etc are also on the site (For Syllabus of written test: Click here)
Applicants to follow the following steps.
Step 1: Candidates to download the preliminary / initial screening (GD) application form along with admit card (Click here). Fill them up, enclose an a/c payee DD for Rs. 300/- in favour of the “Director, SCMLD”, payable at Pune and dispatch the same to SCMLD so as to reach SCMLD, Pune, at least 10 days before the date of the preliminary selection / GD process at the GD centre chosen by the applicant. Whichever centres there are briefing seminars on the previous day, students can collect the forms by paying Rs. 300 cash and appear for the GD subsequently. For seminar dates please look at the selection centre list.(Click here for the selection centers and test dates)
Step 2: Candidates must report to the selected venue at the appointed time to participate in the GD. The time will be intimated via post mail / e-mail / (on the spot for the candidates who register at the seminar venue) as the case maybe. Candidates to check back if they don’t receive the e-mail / mail within seven days of their dispatching the form with DD of Rs. 300/-.
In the GD process a topic at random from those on this site, will be announced and students will be given 5 minutes to write down their views. Paper will be supplied for the same. Once this sheet is taken back, a 15-minute discussion will follow. The observers from SCMLD may intervene after 15 minutes depending upon the quality of the discussion. After another 10 minutes of GD the process will be called off. The written part & the discussion part will have separate marks.
In the next 10-15 minutes, the shortlist will be announced. The short-listed candidates will then proceed for a brief clarification/counseling session. Thereafter, those who are still interested in SCMLD admission should buy the prospectus and the course / program application form by paying Rs. 900/- as stated above and obtain cash receipt. Such candidates will be given a book, prospectus and the form which should be filled up and dispatched to SCMLD Pune, within 2-3 days of obtaining it. The written test will be held at Pune, SCMLD campus, during 15th - 30th March 2010. At the time of purchasing the prospectus and form, the candidate will be given a date of his/her choice between the aforementioned dates for the test at Pune. Dates once given, will not be changed. Particulars of the candidates and the dates alloted will be hosted on this website as well on 12th March, 2010.
Step 3: Those who apply thus, should report at 9.00 am on the date allotted to them for the written test and psychometric assessment at the SCMLD campus. The psychometric tests will take an hour and the test on the other components will also take as much time. Questions will mainly be of multiple-choice pattern.
The test in Pune is to ensure that the candidate and at least one of the parents visit the campus, interact with current students, verify the placement data and other infrastructure and satisfy themselves before taking admission in SCMLD. Without the candidate and at least one parent visiting the campus, admission will not be granted in any case.
Step 4: The marks / scores in the written tests and GD etc will be declared on the following day of the written test at SCMLD campus. Since book, syllabi, GD topics etc. are already given in advance, those who score 75% and above (aggregate) including bonus marks for those who have scored more than 60% in the 10th, 12th and Graduation, can directly pay the fee through UTI or IDBI banks in Pune and confirm the admission straight away and go back provided they can stay back for the following day of the test as well.
Bridge Programme:
Those who score less than 75%, but above 60% can also take spot admission as above but subject to a “Bridge Programme” of 30 days. The “Bridge programme” starting on 1st of May 2010, will have an additional fee that will include tuition, hostel accommodation, food, outbound camp and various other grooming inputs during these 30 days. The actual course (Post Graduate Program in Executive Leadership) commences for all students on 2nd June 2010 (Those who score 75% and above and those who are admitted through bridge program).
The above two categories of candidates can return home and confirm their admissions later as well. That is, immediately after the written test at SCMLD students can go back and send the DD for admissions (direct or through the bridge programme as the case maybe) by 15th April 2010 also. However, admission will be subject to vacancy, as spot admissions from 15th - 30th March 2010 may fill up the seats. For those students with less than 60%, admission will be subject to vacancy and through the Bridge Programme only.
The Bridge programme consists of a 3 day camp outside, basic applied mathematics, basic micro & macro economics, spoken english, english grammar, communication, public speaking; inhibition, fear & anxiety removal, unfolding of personality and workshops on business plan essentials, time & stress management, learning to learn etc. The additional fee prescribed is to cover these learning processes. By interacting with the current students who went through the bridge programme, one may like to assess the worth of the programme.

Eligibility:
Any graduate from a recognized university can apply for SCMLD PGPEL programme. However, IGNOU MBA requires a minimum 40 percentile / percentage in CAT, XAT, MAT, ATMA, CET of any state govt. or OPENMAT of IGNOU held after July 09 and minimum 50% (45% for SC/ST) in graduation. Graduates with less than 50% can apply but can pursue only Diploma Programs of IGNOU along side SCMLD programmes. Final year students of graduation can also apply provided they produce their final year mark sheets / degrees latest by 10th July 2010. For APEL, one must be a Post Graduate in Economics, Commerce, Law, OB, Psychology, Maths, Statistics, PGPEL of SCMLD, PGDM, PGDBM or CA, ICWA or graduates with minimum of 3 years work experience in supervisory or executive positions. All to also undergo the bridge programme of 30 days except PGDMs, PGPELs, MBAs or equivalent.
Placement:
Three batches (2004-06, 2005-07, 2006-08) of SCMLD autonomous then PGDM programme passed out with 100% placements and 20 opted to be entrepreneurs. From PGPEL 2007-09 batch out of 155 students 7 became entrepreneurs, 2 opted out of placement & 142 were placed despite the economic downturn. Of the fifth (current) batch of 225 students, 114 are already placed and 3 are opting out to be entrepreneurs (as on 26th January 2010) with a highest package of Rs.9 Lac p.a. C.T.C. and lowest of Rs. 2.25 Lac p.a. C.T.C. Average being Rs. 3.35 Lac p.a. Many more companies are scheduled to be on campus. This time placements will get over only by April 2010, unlike previous years. Those who desire to have a starting salary of more than 2.5 Lac to 5 lac p.a. in C.T.C terms should not apply to SCMLD.(Click here for details of Placements). It may also be noted that SCMLD facilitates employability and entrepreneurship provided one is a learner. SCMLD can bring companies on campus. Grabbing placements is students’ responsibility. SCMLD is a coaching institute and not a placement agency.
Hostel & Mess:
Separate furnished hostels for girls & boys and wholesome vegetarian food available.
Educational Loan:
HDFC & PNB Banks have consented to grant educational loans to SCMLD students, subject to meeting banks' lending norms and the professional discretion of the branch head. SCMLD will not be responsible for denial of loans by any bank whatsoever may be the reasons. (Click here for fee structure)
SCMLD a choice:
May we further stress that SCMLD is for those who, by “own choice” WANT to go through its processes. Once joined (by paying the fee) no exemption from any process is possible. Students who are not used to reading for at least 4 hours a day, attending classes / sessions for at least 5 hours a day, and not comfortable in group / team based shared learning, and who believe campus life is only fun, frolic and freedom (without any responsibility) and who are addicted to mobile phones, laptops & ipods as unavoidable 24 hrs. companions etc. will definitely undergo stress and will be frustrated unless willing to alter habits wanting to change for good.
Similarly, since we are providing books, GD topics and syllabi of other components of the entrance test, we expect the candidates to come prepared and score above 75% in which case Bridge programme can be avoided. That itself will show the candidate’s motivation and goal orientation.
MBA is granted by the IGNOU, a central open university established by an Act of parliament. It is approved by AICTE. In this, SCMLD is only a partner in classroom coaching to prepare SCMLD students for IGNOU exams on passing of which only the university (IGNOU) will grant the MBA degree. SCMLD cannot grant any degree or diploma. SCMLD leadership programs are entirely different.
SCMLD programs viz Post Graduate Programme in Executive Leadership (PGPEL) and Advanced Programme in Executive Leadership (APEL) are designed, modified, offered, evaluated and certified by SCMLD only.
Honesty, integrity, 4 hours of classroom reading and 5 hours of classroom sessions, 2 hours of collaborative efforts and time for yoga / pranayama or workout and meditation per day and occasional field surveys / earning while learning / field assignments etc are a must at SCMLD. Use of laptops, mobile phones, ipods during 10:30 pm - 6:00 am is prohibited in hostels as that time is exclusively for sleep / rest. (Click here for A day at SCMLD). SCMLD is for people who have the fire and passion to be exemplary in performance & inspirational in life and want to be in perfect health - physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual & social. It is for people who believe in family values, responsible citizenship, moral & ethical conduct and transparency in transactions & relationships. Those who have difficulty in “accepting” these values and practicing healthy habits, should not apply. Just adjustment, accommodation or compromise to fit in for the time being without full acceptance to go through the processes of SCMLD, will only frustrate such people as the journey is a tough & long one.
SCMLD processes are to sculpt out the best in each of its students. Hence, anyone unwilling or not able to accept the discomforts inherent in reinventing & adding value to oneself for building a future of choice, should not apply or take admission in SCMLD as the systems & processes are unconventional and demanding. SCMLD is for those who are determined to improve their lives by investing in themselves utilizing fully the time available.
